Hamby’s are a family run firm who are still an independent footwear retailer. The business was started on St. David’s Day March 1st 1961 by my mother and father, Meryl and David Hamby. Originally the business was a credit drapers, supplying clothing, jewellery, furniture, carpets and decorating supplies to outlying villages around town.
Our first shoe shop opened in Chapeltown, Sheffield in 1973, the second being in Barnsley in 1979. Our Rotherham store has twice won awards having achieved first place in the ‘Best Large Shop Category’ and was previously voted ‘Best Town Centre Retail Business’.
We carry a large stock of quality footwear for ladies and gentlemen -
In 2004 The Hamby Foundation was also formed to help the children of Romania and to date the charity has raised sums totalling in excess of £400,000. This much needed funding has helped towards the building of a church, a feeding centre, a street children’s centre and an old people’s clothing centre.
We now have an Antiques centre on Rotherham High Street. The Grade II* listed building is home to over 70 dealers selling Antiques and collectables to suit all budgets.
The business today is owned and run by Tracey and Chris Hamby, and we welcome you to join our many loyal customers who return again and again.
